Sabriel was cold. Cold and frightened. The cemetery at Raven Hill was not a nice place, and the task she had been given was a long and difficult one. Her flimsy robe neither kept out the cold nor protected her from the ravages of the ghouls and spiders that stalked the graves. Even with the extra layer of clothing from her newly acquired guild tabard, she was already bleeding from several wounds, and exhausted with the effort of hiding from the evil Mor'Ladim as he patrolled the graveyard.
'I cannot do this' she sobbed to herself. 'I am a priest, a healer, not a killer. I can't go on'. Weeping, she sank down to the ground behind an old rusty wagon that stood on the path.
'Sabriel?' A voice spoke next to her, warm and kind. 'Sabriel, do u need help?'
She looked up into a gentle face, the face of someone who had seen many battles and come through them all, the face of someone who had known despair and met it head on, and defeated it.
'Nadiastorm?' Sabriel spoke with awe. 'You have time to come and help me?
'Of course' smiled Nadiastorm. 'What do u need to do? And watch out for that Mor'Ladim, he's a nasty piece of work, but I can take care of him for you.'
Sabriel stood up and smiled back at her GuildMaster. 'I need to kill the ghouls, the ones that are spreading the plague' she said. 'But they attack me in groups of 2 or 3 and I can't fight them'.
'No problem'. Nadiastorm swung her sword out of its scabbard, grabbed her shield and started to run. 'Come on' she shouted 'I will show you the best way to deal with them'.
Sabriel ran as fast she could to keep up. The ghouls dropped one after the other, falling to the might of Nadiastorm's sword. In no time at all, both the cemetery and the underlying catacombs were cleared and small heaps of bodies lay dotted around the graves.
'Take everything' called Nadiastorm, 'I don't need anything here'
'Really?' said Sabriel. 'That is very kind of you'. She thought that this mighty paladin was the most amazing woman she had ever seen.
Nadiastorm smiled. 'No worries' she said. 'Just shout if you need help any time at all. And now why don't you come with me to our Guild Meeting in Ironforge? It would be nice for the others to meet you'.
Sabriel gasped with surprise. 'Really?' she said, 'Could I?'
'Of course you could, you are part of this guild now. Catch the gryphon and I will meet you there. The meeting is in the Throne Room.'
Flying on the back of the gryphon, Sabriel could not believe her good fortune. Only a few days ago, she had been lost and alone, struggling with her tasks in a strange world full of monsters and savage creatures. Now she had a guild to call her home, a strong and brave GuildMaster, and a bunch of people that she could start to call her friends. She landed in Ironforge and made her way quickly to the Throne Room where a circle of people were gathered.
Sabriel suddenly felt nervous in the presence of so many brave adventurers - warriors, rogues, mages, hunters and paladins. One among them stood up.
'Sabriel' she said 'How lovely to meet you at last. My name is Aiko'
She came over to Sabriel, hugged her and bade her sit down amongst them. 'I am a priest like you my dear, so if I can be of any help to you please just ask me. In the meantime, here is a gift for you' and she gave Sabriel a flask of sweet nectar with which to restore her powers.
'Thank you' breathed Sabriel. 'And thank you all - for everything'.
